“Table it is, then.” Daphne lead Jonah toward an empty table along the wall. It was surprisingly scarce inside. She sat down in the chair, exhausted. “It feels good to just sit down without having paperwork or something to do in front of me.”
Jonah let himself be lead to a table next to the wall. He couldn’t help but wonder what other people thought when they saw him and Daphne, here, together, just the two of them. Looking back to her, he gave an embarrassed smile. “Yes, well, the paperwork is kind of my fault, so I do apologise for that. But I know what you mean, it is nice to be able to just sit and relax.”
She still couldn’t get over the fact that Jonah, Dr. Fox, her boss was in a bar. With her. Maybe this would cause him to break out of his shell a bit more. Maybe loosen up slightly. “I’m going to head up to the bar and get us our drinks. What do you want?” If he said Coke or water…
Jonah frowned at Daphne’s question. What did he want? Beer had never appealed to him, and he wasn’t very fond of wine either. He didn’t want to seem like an inexperienced fool, so he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. “Erm, well, how about you, er, surprise me?”
